Cyclist boy from Layton dies after collision with truck

CLEARFIELD, Utah – A 10-year-old Layton boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle Saturday.

Clearfield police said the truck and the boy did not see each other. And the truck was attempting to turn at an intersection with four stop signs. Clearfield Deputy Police Chief Devin Rogers said the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of 1900 South and Chelemes Way in Clearfield.

North Davis Fire Department arrived at the scene and was able to transport the boy to the hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

“They were able to get him to the hospital. There, his condition deteriorated to the point where he eventually died from the injuries he sustained in the accident,” Rogers said.

Rogers said it was a tragic reminder that we need to be extra careful of others on the road, especially since school has started again and more children will be using intersections on their way to and from school.

“When you’re out on the road, you have to be careful as a cyclist and as a driver that you look out for each other. You have to look out for each other,” Rogers said.

Police have not released the boy’s name, but a GoFundMe page identifies the boy as Dom Boudrero and shows that the Layton community is standing by his family after the loss of their boy.
