Country star Zach Bryan apologizes to Taylor Swift after tweeting while ‘drunk’

Country singer Zach Bryan has gotten into trouble after comparing Taylor Swift to Kanye West in a now-deleted social media post.

Earlier this week, Bryan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Eagles > Chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who’s with me,” according to Variety.

In the social media post, Bryan appeared to attack several elements in Swift’s life – including her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Additionally, Swift has a strained past with West, particularly after he interrupted her at the 2009 MTV VMAs and she was the subject of several of his diss tracks.

Since the controversial social media post, the country star has deactivated his X account and apologized to Swift’s fans for his tweet.

“To the record people: I wasn’t here for Taylor the other day,” Bryan wrote on Instagram above a screenshot of Swift’s song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. “I drunkenly compared two records and it came out wrong.”

The “Heading South” singer acknowledged the long-standing feud between Swift and West, further explaining, “I know there are a lot of things floating around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray that you know that I’m only human and I tweet stupid things a lot.”

Bryan, 28, added that he hopes to one day explain his controversial social media post to Swift. He also apologized to Swifties and explained in detail why he deactivated his X account.

“To the record people: I didn’t come here for Taylor the other day. I compared two records while drunk and the result was wrong.”

“I get in trouble too often on Twitter and I’d say it’s best if I stay away from it,” he wrote. “I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I’ve upset or disappointed. I love you guys and I’m doing my best!”

Bryan openly said that he was currently going through a difficult time in his life and pleaded with his fans.

“I’ve been through a difficult time in my life and I think I’ve been projecting a little bit.”

He acknowledged that the social media post may have seemed “rude and desensitized” to Taylor.

“I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is for people to think I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music,” praised Bryan Swift.

Bryan sang Swift’s song “The Albatross” and demanded: “Don’t drink and don’t tweet. Don’t drink and don’t tweet!!”

While the “Revival” singer further explained his actions and expressed his admiration for Swift, he concluded his lengthy apology by saying, “This year has been terribly stressful for me in personal ways that no one knows about, and I’ve been trying to deal with and juggle too many things at once.”

Bryan added that he is taking a break from X to focus on his tour and “ground himself.”

“Okay, I had to get that off my chest. You’re all the best and we’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond,” he concluded.

Representatives for Bryan, Swift and West did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
