• Two Corvettes collided when one lost traction and hit a tree.
  • The damaged car lost almost the entire front half after hitting a tree.
  • It appears that the accident was caused by a lack of traction and poor driving skills.

Everyone makes mistakes behind the wheel from time to time. Hopefully, those mistakes don’t lead to catastrophic accidents like the one in this story. A Chevrolet Corvette driver causes his own car crash when he simultaneously loses traction and his driving skills.

All seemed well as two C7 Corvettes drove down a four-lane road. The duo could be twins from what we can see in the short clip. Both are painted white with black accents, including a Gurney hatch at the rear.

It’s unclear if the two drivers knew each other, if they planned to be there together, or if they just happened to meet. Whatever the case, the driver of the car in lane one was having a much worse day than the driver of the car in lane two. As the two move forward, the Corvette in lane two passes the Corvette in lane one at what appears to be a very leisurely speed.

The two don’t appear to be racing, as the camera car keeps up well. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the rear of the Corvette in lane one slides sharply to the right, with a small cloud of exhaust escaping from the four ends. We see the brake lights come on, but it’s far too late. The Chevrolet is almost 90 degrees from its starting point.

It hits a curb, hits a bush, and then slams into a tree before spinning out. Now that we see the front of the sports car, we can see the damage. Both headlights are broken, the front bumper is split into several pieces, and the hood is badly damaged. It looks like the car even lost vital fluids in the process.

The lesson here is undoubtedly obvious and clear. Driving beyond your abilities is dangerous and sometimes incredibly costly. We’re just glad the only person involved was the one who instigated the whole thing.
