Conan O’Brien returns to The Simpsons for the Season 36 premiere

Conan O’Brien will appear as a special guest on the Season 36 premiere of The Simpsons This Sunday, September 29th, marks the homecoming of the comedian who wrote for the show in its early seasons.

O’Brien praised the performance on Twitter on Saturday, writing: “I’m finally back The Simpsons this Sunday with a breathtaking episode 36 years in the making. I can’t imagine a major national event in the next five weeks.”

Following a stay on Saturday Night Live In the late 1980s, O’Brien joined The Simpsons During his two-year tenure on the series, he wrote several notable episodes, including “Marge vs. the Monorail,” “New Kid on the Block,” and “Homer Goes to College.”

Sunday’s performance will be O’Brien’s first appearance The Simpsons since he made a cameo appearance in the fifth season in 1994, shortly after landing the NBC hosting gig Late at night. More recently, he appeared alongside Homer in a segment that aired on the final week of his late night show on TBS in 2021.

Past seasons of The Simpsons can be streamed on Disney+.

Earlier this year, O’Brien stole the show at the 2024 Newport Folk Fest with a star-studded superjam that included a guest appearance from Jack White. His Max travel series, Conan O’Brien has to gowas also recently renewed for a second season.
