EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has learned that comedian George Lopez is preparing a new one-hour comedy special that will premiere on Prime Video.
Amazon MGM Studios and Travieso Productions are producing Lopez’s new hour, his first since We do it for half for Netflix in 2020. The taping will take place on September 27 and 28 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles as part of Lopez’s “ALLLRIIIIGHHTTT! Comedy” tour, with the premiere date to be announced at a later date.
Lopez has pioneered Latino comedians in his decades-long career in television, film, stand-up and late-night comedy, and previously produced four comedy specials with HBO – The wall (2017), It’s not me, it’s you (2012), Tall, dark and Chicano (2009) and America’s Mexicans (2007) — for the last two he received Grammy nominations. His stand-up productions also include Why are you crying?an acclaimed comedy concert for Showtime and a number of other comedy albums.
Noted for the groundbreaking hit sitcom George Lopezwhich he co-created, wrote, produced and starred in for ABC. Most recently, he served as executive producer and starred alongside his daughter Mayan Lopez in the NBC sitcom Lopez vs Lopeza fictionalized look at their real-life relationship, which returns for season three on October 18. He also executive produced and starred in TV Land’s semi-autobiographical sitcom Lopezwhich ran for two seasons, and was co-creator and lead actor of the FX series Saint George.
He once hosted his own late-night talk show on TBS.
