Colt Keith injured: Detroit Tigers 2B leaves win against Royals with right shoulder injury

Detroit Tigers second baseman Colt Keith left Tuesday’s win over the Kansas City Royals due to an injury to his right shoulder.

Keith, one of the heroes of the Tigers’ 7-6 victory over the Royals in the series opener on Monday, was taken out of the game in the ninth inning and replaced by Andy Ibáñez.

Keith said in the locker room that he left the game because he had strained his shoulder after diving in the infield.

Before joining the Tigers, Keith sustained the same injury to his right shoulder in the minor leagues, but after the game he said his injury no longer felt the same but he would have it checked out in the next few days.

In his rookie year with the Tigers, Keith has a batting average of .264 with 13 home runs and 58 RBIs and has consistently been one of the team’s best hitters after a slump in form early in his career.
