Coca-Cola builds bottling plant near DIA

Swire Coca-Cola, Colorado’s largest Coca-Cola bottler serving most of Colorado, plans to build a 570,000-square-foot bottling plant near the DIA, the company confirmed to Mile High CRE. The plastic and aluminum bottling plant could cost as much as $350 million to $500 million and will be located in the DIA’s Second Creek Campus industrial park at the northeast corner of Tower Road and Peña Boulevard.

The Denver City Council approved a 75-year lease with Swire Infrastructure Inc. for $270.7 million in April 2023. The new facility will replace both Coca-Cola’s manufacturing center at 3825 York St. and its distribution center at 2145 E. 40th Ave. Swire Coca-Cola USA serves 13 states, including most of Colorado. In the Centennial State, the company operates eight plants with 1,250 employees.

Allison Barrett, Director of Public Relations and Government Affairs for Swire Coca-Cola’s Central Region, told Mile High CRE, “Swire Coca-Cola USA is proud to deliver refreshment to the communities we call home, and that includes most of Colorado. As part of our long-term planning and growth goals, we plan to develop a property near Denver International Airport for potential business use. We are proud to be part of the Colorado community, and while no final decisions have been made, we plan to keep the community updated on any potential future development of the site.”

Swire will hold quarterly community engagement meetings. The third quarter community meeting will be held on September 25, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Construction on the Swire Coca-Cola facility is scheduled to begin in early 2025.

PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA) began construction of its new 110,000 square-foot production facility in the Denver High Point development area in 2022. The facility is scheduled for completion in 2025.
