CNN’s Kate Bolduan criticizes Trump’s disagreements with Ramaswamy

CNN presenter Kate Bolduan fought with Vivek Ramaswamy on Wednesday about several former presidents Donald Trump’s guidelines.

Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential rival and now Trump’s surrogate, visited CNN to interview Vice President Kamala Harris’ changing policies on issues like fracking and health insurance. But during the conversation, Bolduan Ramaswamy interrupted to check his facts and point out that his own candidate has his own fickle issues:

Ramaswamy: If we can use Kamala Harris’ own words against her, which I think we can, it is that during the presidential campaign she advocated a tax on unrealized capital gains, the abolition of – in her words – private health insurance, a ban on fracking and offshore drilling. These are the kinds of policies that are absolutely not mainstream for most Americans. And that’s where I think the debate will be useful. I think more media scrutiny of Kamala Harris, hopefully with more interviews than we’ve had so far, will be helpful. Say what you want, or you may or may not agree with Donald Trump, he and JD Vance have given dozens of interviews, as have other members of the campaign and surrogate teams. The reality is that we have not seen the same from Kamala Harris. I expect that will change in the next few months, and I believe that voters will be very well informed in November.

Bolduan: Vivek, but on the issue of banning private health insurance, she said she doesn’t believe that, and she doesn’t believe that now. On the issue of banning fracking, she made that clear, and she did that in the interview with Dana Bashthat it no longer supports this. If things develop further–

Ramaswamy: So let me answer that respectfully, I cannot leave it hanging.

Bolduan: One second –

Ramaswamy: Kate, I can’t leave this pending for political reasons, if I may.

Bolduan: I understand, but I’m asking the question and then you can answer it. She made it very clear that that is not her position. When further development of an issue, further development of a position – you could also call it back and forth on an issue – is no longer allowed, then that is a death sentence for a campaign. Donald Trump has problems there.

Ramaswamy: You see, Donald Trump has clearly formulated his political positions. But when it comes to Kamala Harris, I would like to be more specific.

Bolduan: On the subject of abortion?

Bolduan also pointed to Trump’s hesitation in his vote on Florida’s six-week abortion ban, which he initially said he voted against before saying he would vote for it. Ramaswamy tried to explain this by blaming the “vague wording” of the ballot proposal in question. He also made the false claim that Democrats wanted to allow abortions “up until the time of birth” or even the “execution” of a baby after birth, which Bolduan tried to get him to admit was inaccurate. He again blamed the “vague wording” of the ballot proposal.
