CM Punk’s next film role revealed

CM Punk’s acting career has seen him star in an independent horror film and a weekly cable series about the business of being a professional wrestler. He recently became one of several WWE stars who signed with Paradigm Talent Agency to “be represented in all areas.” So even if he gets back into the WWE’s full-time rhythm, we thought The girl on the third floor And Paragraphs should not be Punk’s last appearances as an actor.

And in fact, they weren’t. The poster for an upcoming comedy titled Let’s start a cult reveals that Punk – under his real name Phil Brooks – has a role in the film.

FilmWeb

Punk gets an “and” credit, which usually means that a name the filmmakers think fans will be interested in gets a small role or cameo. The star is clearly comedian Stavros Halkias, whose fame has been on the rise recently (as a Baltimore resident, he will always be the quintessential Ravens fan “Ronnie” to me—the link is VERY NSFW, by the way). The official description of Let’s start a cult MovieWeb’s review doesn’t give any insight into Punk’s role, but Halkias sounds perfect for the lead role in the Ben Kitnick-directed film:

After missing his cult’s long-awaited ritual suicide, an obnoxious loser teams up with his fake ex-messiah to rebuild their doomsday commune. The constantly bickering duo travel across the central United States together, taking in a wannabe military man, a mentally unstable mother, and a mysterious foreign hitchhiker into their cult… but will this family of misfits fulfill their transcendental destiny or decide that maybe this life is worth living after all?

We will see what the Punkster and Stavvy Baby are up to when Let’s start a cult will be in theaters on October 25th.
