Classic heavy bow echo knocks down trees and makes

Well, that was a blast.

A classic bow echo storm produced winds of nearly 70 miles per hour and downed trees, causing significant power outages Monday evening.

Xcel Energy reports around 90,000 people without power at the time of publication on Monday evening.

Wind gusts exceeded 60 miles per hour in several locations on Monday, with even stronger gusts likely occurring between measurements.

  • Minneapolis – Flying Cloud, MN (FCM) ASOS reports gust of 55 knots (63.3 mph) from WNW @ 0013Z

  • 4 E Silver Lake (Mcleod Co, MN) Mesonet reports Tstm Wnd Gst from M65 MPH at 18:18 CDT – Mesonet station MN002 Th7 – Silver Lake – Mp 155.

  • 2 WSW Willmar (Kandiyohi Co, MN) AWOS reporting Tstm Wnd Gst from M62 MPH at 4:40 PM CDT – REPORTED FROM WILLMAR, WILLMAR MUNICIPAL AIRPORT-JOHN L. RICE FIELD.

There may be isolated thunderstorms early Tuesday morning, but the weather should be dry again by midday.
