CJ Gardner-Johnson helps Gator fans after 41-17 loss to Miami

It’s not yet known if the “U” will return. However, the Florida Gators are a long way from the years of Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer after a 41-17 thrashing of Miami, leaving some experts wondering if the Hurricanes are a playoff contender.

Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns as No. 19 Miami dominated Florida at the Swamp in front of disappointed fans and former players such as Tim Tebow and Jevon Kearse.

Another former Gators star who was upset by the loss was Eagles defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson.

As a true freshman at Florida, Gardner-Johnson appeared in all 14 games and started the final seven games of the season. During the 2017 Outback Bowl, Gardner-Johnson had two tackles and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown against Iowa, earning him Outback Bowl MVP honors. Gardner-Johnson started in all 11 games as a sophomore and after his junior season, he declared for the NFL Draft and was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Gardner-Johnson, now one of the NFL’s best safeties, vented his anger during and after the Gators’ loss.

On Sunday afternoon, Gardner-Johnson moderated a live discussion on X/Twitter where Florida fans were able to vent their anger.

Social media reacts to everything, and Gardner-Johnson, who played therapist to SEC fans, was no different.
