Cinema guide for the weekend of August 15-18: A look at what’s on the big screen | Events

OPENING

“Alien: Romulus” – (Horror, R, 119 minutes). A group of young space colonizers encounter a terrifying life form while plundering an abandoned space station.

“Double Ismart” – (Action, not rated, 156 minutes). An assassin helps the authorities after the memories of a dead police officer are implanted in his brain.

“My Penguin Pal” – (Drama, PG, 97 minutes). Inspired by a true story about a lost penguin who forms a special bond with the heartbroken fisherman who rescued him from an oil spill.

“Rob Peace” – (Biography, R, 119 minutes) A ​​brilliant young man must choose between his promising future and risking everything he has worked for to save his imprisoned father.

“Ryan’s World the Movie: Titan Universe Adventure” – (Animation, PG, 83 minutes) Ryan experiences struggles, adventures and misadventures as he tries to save his twin sisters who are trapped in a comic book world.

“Coraline” 15th Anniversary – (Animation, PG, 100 minutes) When 11-year-old Coraline goes through a hidden door in her new home, she discovers an alternate version of her life that’s similar to her own but better. But when her adventure turns dangerous, she must find a way to return to her real home.

“Cuckoo” – (Horror, R, 102 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. A teenager and her family move to a resort where things are not as they seem.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” – (Action, R, 127 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Deadpool and Wolverine join forces to defeat a common enemy.

Despicable Me 4 – (Animation, PG, 95 minutes). Rating: D, Katie Walsh. The family, including newest member Gru Jr., must flee when Gru faces new enemies: Maxime Le Mal and his girlfriend Valentina.

“The Firing Squad” – (Drama, PG-13, 93 minutes). Based on the true story of three Christian prisoners on death row in a third world country whose faith leads to a remarkable ending.

“Fly Me to the Moon” – (Comedy, PG-13, 132 minutes). Grade: C, Michael Phillips. Kelly Jones is assigned to conduct a fake moon landing as a backup in case a major mission coordinated by the White House fails.

“Harold and the Purple Crayon” – (Animation, PG, 92 minutes). Rating: D, Katie Walsh. Harold can bring anything to life by drawing it in his book. As he grows up, he draws from the pages himself and realizes he still has a lot to learn in the physical world.

Inside Out 2 – (Animation, PG, 100 minutes). Rating: B-, Katie Walsh. Riley, now a teenager, is experiencing new emotions.

“It Ends with Us” – (Drama, PG-13, 130 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Based on Colleen Hoover’s first novel, which tells the story of Lily, who, after overcoming her traumatic childhood, forms a relationship with a neurosurgeon but is afraid to take it too seriously after she sees something in him that reminds her of her parents’ relationship.

“Trap” – (Crime, PG-13, 105 minutes) During a pop concert, a father and his teenage daughter find themselves in the middle of a sinister and dark event.

“Twisters” – (Action, PG-13, 117 minutes). Grade: A-, Katie Walsh. A meteorologist and a retired tornado hunter fight for their lives when they go to Oklahoma to test new technology and find themselves in the path of several storms.
