Christine has an “embarrassing” first encounter with Kody and Robyn after the breakup

The last thing Christine Brown, her ex-husband Kody Brown, and his current (and only remaining) wife Robyn Brown want is to come face to face after Christine and Kody’s major split that rocked their entire blended family. But for the sake of the exes’ daughter, Mykelti Padron (née Brown), and her husband Antonio “Tony” Padron, they’re ready to put their differences aside.

During the premiere of the 19th season of Sisterwives, Christine, 52, helped throw a “Vegas-style” baby shower for Mykelti, 28, to celebrate her expecting twins. There would be “a lot of people” coming to the event, Christine said, noting that Janelle Brown was “definitely” invited but could not attend.

And while Meri Brown didn’t make the shortlist, 55-year-old Kody and 45-year-old Robyn did because of their close bond with Mykelti.

“I would do anything for Mykelti and Mykelti wants Kody and Robyn to be at her sprinkle party,” Christine told the cameras. “So of course they can come to the sprinkle party.”

From then on, Christine freely admits: “I’m a little nervous to see her. I’m nervous.”

“I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen her since I left,” she continued. “I mean, Cody was angry the last time he talked to me, and we haven’t spoken since.”

Kody was also “very excited” to celebrate his daughter and son-in-law’s birthdays. And yet, Kody and Robyn are both “terribly nervous” to see Christine, “mainly because I haven’t seen Christine in months.”

“I can’t fake it,” Kody continued. “When you see her, there’s so much hostility. It’s all something that I find embarrassing because I find it all very childish.”

Robyn also told the cameras separately: “I’m a little nervous about going to this baby shower. The last time I saw Christine, she told us she didn’t want a relationship with me and my kids.”

Given the baby shower’s gambling theme, Christine joked that party guests could “place bets” on whether “we’re actually all going to get along in the same place or not.”

From the moment Kody and Robyn arrived at the party until they finally left, the couple managed to keep their distance from Christine. “I can’t speak for Kody and Christine, but I kept my distance and didn’t say hello to Christine because she told me she didn’t want a relationship and I didn’t want to force myself on her,” Robyn said. “I want to have every relationship I can have, but it takes two.”

Christine said she “noticed” that Kody and Robyn were staying away from her. “I’m not necessarily going to say hello,” Christine said, noting that “that would be disingenuous.”

“That would mean I would be amicable and friendly, and I’m not,” she added. “I’m not going to be friendly.”

Christine soon realized something crucial about Kody and Robyn’s presence at the baby shower. “When I saw Kody and Robyn at the party, I suddenly realized that it was more uncomfortable for them. They are outsiders here, not me,” she said.

“I just don’t want to talk to her,” Kody said separately. “I don’t want to see her. She probably doesn’t want to see me either.”

Reflecting on the “dark position” he found himself in – especially since his breakups with Meri and Janelle came not long after Christine’s departure – Kody said he believes Christine is “in a good place because she’s moved out” and “moved on.” However, he admitted on camera, “Robyn and I are in a really difficult position.”

“We’re probably doing the worst thing we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been hard. It’s been hard between us,” Robyn shared in a confessional. “He doesn’t know who to blame, himself or one of the other women. Kody feels rejected a lot. I think he looks at me and thinks, ‘Are you going to reject me too?’ So I’m on guard. I constantly have to make sure he’s not sabotaging our relationship.”

Looking ahead, Christine knows she can’t avoid Kody and Robyn forever, noting that the trio will “just happen” sometimes.

“And Robyn will definitely be there for the birth of the twins,” she added. “That’s just the way it is. We’ll just be in the same place.”
