Christian Eckes wins the Truck Series regular season championship title after the first leg in Richmond

At Richmond Raceway, Christian Eckes wins the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular season championship. Eckes secured victory early on with a stage win, securing the championship title and 15 bonus points for the playoffs.

This season, two drivers battled for the regular season title. Christian Eckes versus Corey Heim. Before today, Eckes had only finished outside the top 10 once, P32 DNF in Atlanta.

Tonight, all eyes were on Eckes, who started from pole. All he needed was a strong stage and the stage win, and Eckes is a regular season champion.

This season, Christian Eckes has three wins. He has only finished outside the top 10 once, in Atlanta, where he retired. Eckes is the real racer, he is potentially a future Cup Series driver, and he is on track to win the Truck Series championship this season.

Corey Heim put up a good fight for the championship. However, he made too many mistakes, not enough stage points, and Eckes pulled away towards the end of the season. Although Heim has five wins in 2024, he has finished three races outside the top 10, including one DNF and one disqualification. That hurts.

Heim’s fight for the championship in Phoenix will only get more difficult now that Eckes has won the regular season. From pole to winning Stage 1, that’s all he needed to win the regular season.

Christian Eckes aims for fourth win of the season

After winning the stage at the start of the Clean Harbors 250, Christian Eckes has to fend off his challengers the rest of the way. Grant Enfinger has stayed close on Eckes’ heels and will probably be the most difficult rider tonight.

Eckes has had dominant wins this season. His last win came in Nashville when Eckes led every lap from the pole and won the race. Richmond is tough. The race is long and there are a lot of laps.

Anything can happen in the NASCAR playoffs, so Eckes and Heim and everyone else will have to do their best to win the championship. A repeat of last year’s championship race is not possible.

At the moment it looks like Christian Eckes will have the upper hand. But be careful, one mistake and Enfinger or someone else can take the win away from him.
