Chris Jericho tries to justify his negativity towards the Learning Tree Faction

Chris Jericho was an innovator and major figure in the world of professional wrestling. Known for his constant evolutions, Jericho founded a new wrestling faction in AEW, The Learning Tree, which adopted the eponymous moniker and served as a driving force for rising stars Big Bill and Bryan Keith.

In addition, Chris Jericho has also claimed that his new gimmick is bringing in big ratings for AEW. Jericho explained in a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that the inspiration for the group came from the criticism he has received on social media.

The former AEW World Champion stressed that wrestling is all about eliciting reactions from the audience, whether positive or negative, and that The Learning Tree serves to channel that energy.

Furthermore, Jericho stressed that this group is not just about theatrics; they have delivered brutal beatings to notable wrestlers such as Samoa Joe, HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata, showing their serious and aggressive side. Y2J also expressed his desire to evolve in his career, avoiding a nostalgia act and instead taking risks to try new things.

“I’m a big proponent of letting history guide you, not the other way around. That allows me to evolve. The whole learning tree is taking negativity from social media and getting a reaction from that. That’s what wrestling is about – getting people to react to what you’re doing. There’s a serious side too – look at the brutal beatings we gave Samoa Joe and Hook and (Katsuyori) Shibata. It’s something I’ve made a career out of and it’s one of the reasons I’ve done it at the highest level for so long, which makes some people mad. That’s what I do. I never wanted to be a nostalgia act, I never wanted to rest on my laurels. I’ve also never been afraid to take risks and do something different and that’s what we’re doing right now.”

Chris Jericho’s comments reflect his commitment to staying relevant in the ever-changing world of professional wrestling, and now he’s using The Learning Tree, which he calls a hit, as a new way to connect with fans and push the boundaries of his character to play a major role in AEW for years to come.
