Chris Armstrong says it will snow at Delta Center – Deseret News

At the Utah Hockey Club’s media day to mark the start of training camp on Wednesday, team president Chris Armstrong announced perhaps the biggest news since the moon landing: It will snow at the Delta Center on opening night.

“Our marketing team is here, so I have to be careful what I reveal,” Armstrong said in response to Deseret News’ question about what the team has planned in terms of the opening night gaming experience. “I would say if it hasn’t snowed in the valley before Oct. 8, there’s a chance the first snowfall will fall here at Delta Center.”

Gaming experience is important

A unique fan experience is one of the many reasons the Vegas Golden Knights have been successful in bringing an NHL team to the desert. In true Las Vegas fashion, the Golden Knights regularly turn their games into performances, including glowing drummers and staged sword fights at center ice.

The snow at Delta Center may or may not be a recurring event, but it is unique and exciting either way. Armstrong also hinted that this wasn’t the only unique part of the game experience tonight, though he didn’t elaborate beyond talking about the snow.

How to get tickets for the premiere

Utah HC will face the Chicago Blackhawks in its first-ever regular season game on October 8. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster, with the cheapest starting at $217 and the most expensive at over $26,000.

It’s possible that the announcement of snow at the Delta Center will increase demand for premiere tickets, so be sure to buy them sooner rather than later.

Oh, and if you plan on going, you might want to bring a winter jacket. The weather forecast calls for snow.
