WILTON – A Wilton man was arrested for suspected drunken driving after his pickup truck crashed and rolled over Wednesday while his two children were sitting in the bed of the truck.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle injury crash around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Pettis Road in Wilton and arrested 40-year-old Matthew J. Murry Jr. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Murry Jr. was traveling westbound on Pettis Road when he swerved to avoid a deer, drove off the road, struck a utility pole and the truck overturned.
Two of Murry’s passengers were two children, ages 10 and 7, who were sitting in the bed of the pickup truck at the time of the crash and were ejected from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office reported.
“Both children were transported to Albany Medical Center by EMS,” the sheriff’s office reported. “The 10-year-old reportedly suffered fractures to his arm and collarbone; the 7-year-old was evaluated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.”

A third passenger, Patrick Murry, 22, of Wilton, was in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash and was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
Murry was charged with first-degree assault, a class D felony, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.8% or more, an unclassified misdemeanor, two counts of aggravated driving under the influence, a class E felon, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He was also charged with two violations: leaving lane unsafely and operating a motor vehicle without inspection.
Matthew Murry Jr. was arraigned before Judge Chad Jerome in Wilton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings in the case, according to the sheriff’s office.
