Chiefs to host Kareem Hunt on Tuesday following Isiah Pacheco’s injury

According to multiple reports, the Kansas City Chiefs could turn back the clock in response to running back Isiah Pacheco’s fibula injury.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter explains that former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt will visit the club on Tuesday. With Pacheco now expected to be out for six to eight weeks, the Chiefs are in dire need of a starting running back.

Hunt, 29, was selected by Kansas City in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He won the rushing title in his rookie year before the team’s relationship with him deteriorated during the 2018 season. In 27 games with the Chiefs, Hunt amassed 2,984 scrimmage yards and 25 total touchdowns.

In February before this season, Hunt was involved in an altercation with a woman, and when TMZ When Hunt posted video of the incident, the team concluded that he had not been honest with the coaching staff about the incident and decided to release him. The Cleveland Browns eventually signed Hunt, who was suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season.

Hunt worked on a committee with Browns star running back Nick Chubb, but his best performance came in 2020, when Chubb missed a month with an injury. It was the only season in which Hunt averaged over 1,000 scrimmage yards since being released by the Chiefs.

In another roster move on Monday, the Chiefs waived tight end Peyton Hendershot. With Hollywood Brown on reserve/injured, Pacheco moving there and Hendershot being released, Kansas City has three open spots on its 53-man roster.
