Chiefs star criticizes NFL for “nonsense” after stat change in Week 2

Chris Jones jokingly called out the NFL on social media after a statistic was corrected, denying the Chiefs’ defensive leader half a sack and instead awarding George Karlaftis a full sack.

He said the change was “bullshit,” but he couldn’t be too upset since the Chiefs still beat the hated Bengals on a last-second field goal by Harrison Butker in Week 2. Jones managed a full sack in Week 1 against the Ravens, but now Karlaftis has matched that with one of his own.

The two form a dominant duo and help Kansas City to have one of the strongest defensive lines in the league, especially against the pass.

Of course, Jones isn’t really upset. He got his massive contract extension and, unlike last year, he doesn’t have to overcome any statistical hurdles to get his money. Jones still had two QB hurries against Joe Burrow and he’s drawn eight pressures in the first two weeks.

Karlaftis has five pressure points of his own. It’s obvious that these two are almost unstoppable against even powerful attacks. One can only imagine how effective they will be against the immobile Kirk Cousins on Sunday night.

Jones could have a career day against Cousins, who has already been sacked three times. Atlanta has a strong offensive line, but Cousins’ mobility has been limited by the torn Achilles he suffered last season. He won’t be able to get away like Lamar Jackson and Burrow, and it’s safe to assume Jones will get into the backfield at least once.

For Jones’ sake, he just has to make sure Karlaftis doesn’t steal it from him.
