Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy shows record-breaking speed on his first NFL touchdown

The Kansas City Chiefs were impressed by Xavier Worthy’s incredible speed when they selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After all, he set the NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash record with a run of 4.21 seconds.

But no one expected what would happen when Worthy made his first NFL appearance on Thursday night.

On the Chiefs’ first drive, it was Worthy’s turn to touch the football field on the fifth play. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes faked a handoff to running back Isiah Pacheco and threw the ball to Worthy, who chased after him.

After securing the ball, Worthy looked up, saw a multitude of blockers in front of him, and hit his now signature shot.

Worthy weaved around several Ravens defenders, was well blocked by his teammates and reached the end zone for a 21-yard rushing touchdown.

A pretty good way to master your first NFL touch.

It took just five plays for the Chiefs’ first touchdown of the season, and Worthy’s crowning achievement shows just how explosive Kansas City’s offense can be this season.

Worthy, a product of the Texans, had 1,014 yards and five receiving touchdowns for the Longhorns last season, helping them reach the College Football Playoff.

And although he will be surrounded by playmakers like Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice and Pacheco in the backfield, Worthy’s speed should make him a catalyst for the Chiefs, especially when blockers can get in front of him.
