Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gives “All In” speech at Texas Tech

The start of the new college football season has many fans and current NFL players excited. Every team has a clean slate and is aiming for the national championship. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the many stars looking to support his alma mater in any way possible as the 2024 season begins.

Mahomes recently returned to Texas Tech to provide additional motivation to the football team as they prepare for the start of the new college football season.

“One thing I want to say to all of you: If I don’t share with you from this whole speech something I learned from my time at Texas Tech and in the NFL, and that’s what I live by today, it’s that you have to go full throttle in this game,” Mahomes said. “You have to go full throttle in everything you do. And if I regret anything about my time at Texas Tech, it’s that I didn’t really go full throttle. We had great offenses and exciting teams. I was drafted in the first round, but did I go full throttle? Did I do everything I needed to in my extra time to win that Big 12 championship? And when I look back on my career, I don’t think I did. I went to class, practiced hard, played sports and had fun. I had a great time, but you can do all of that and still be great at everything you do.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion stared intently at each player in the room as he delivered his speech motivating the group ahead of the opening game of the 2024 season next weekend.

“One thing I want to tell all of you is winning the Super Bowl is a lot better than all the extra things you do on the weekends or whatever. So when you walk into this building, are you all in? When you’re at practice and you have to do those extra reps, are you all in? You have to commit to excellence, and that commitment is what’s going to get you all to that Big 12 championship,” Mahomes said. “And believe me, I believe in all of you. I’ve seen the work; I’ve seen the brand. I’ve seen the videos, all the hype stuff, but at the end of the day, it comes down to how you’re going to play on that football field. I believe all of you have everything you need here. So make sure every day when you come to work, when you leave this building or come in, you’re all in.”

During his illustrious career as a Red Raider, Mahomes accumulated 11,252 passing yards and 115 touchdowns in three seasons. The Chiefs selected him 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he remained closely connected to the university and helped the program grow.
