Chick-fil-A plans to launch a reality TV streaming service

Entertainment industry insiders suspect that another streaming service is on its way to the public. But not just any streaming service. A service that is owned and operated by no one other than Chick-fil-AThe restaurant chain would not be the first company to try its hand at the entertainment business.

However, launching a streaming service now seems painfully wrong. Just consider the failure of Quibi not too long ago. Consumers are now severely overwhelmed by subscriptions. Most viewers don’t want to take out another subscription on top of their other streaming services. That is, if they can even afford it.

Money is tight for everyone these days. And if Chick-fil-A’s original content is as annoying as their YouTube ads, they could be in big financial trouble. Still, read on to learn everything about the rumored upcoming streaming service.

Chick-fil-A spends $400,000 per episode of streaming content

On August 21, Deadline reported that Chick-fil-A had hatched plans for its own streaming service. The outlet reported that the fast-food chain was working with several production houses to create original content. The streaming service would reportedly create family-friendly content in the unscripted space.

In addition, Chick-fil-A also plans to license and acquire existing content. Among the production companies in negotiations was Glassman Media. Viewers may be familiar with NBC’s “The Wall,” produced by Glassman Media. Producers reportedly plan to create a family-friendly game show for the upcoming streamer.

In addition, Sugar23, the company behind 13 Reasons Why, will also produce a ten-part series for Chick-fil-A. According to sources, the budget is an average of $400,000 per half hour of content. These sources also indicate that the service will launch later this year. There is talk of scripted projects and animations in addition to the unscripted shows.

Chick-fil-A declined to comment to Deadline. But other sources said the restaurant’s move could have an overall positive impact on reality TV, a genre that has been under pressure in recent years. Compared to other branded content, another source said, Chick-fil-A has capitalized on a promising opportunity. Only time will tell if consumers agree (though that seems unlikely).
