Chick-Fil-A is reportedly planning its own streaming service

The chicken sandwich war is spilling into your living room.

Four years after Lifetime aired a fictional romance about KFC’s Colonel Sanders, Chick-Fil-A is reportedly planning to launch its own streaming service. A report from Deadline says the fast-food chain is in talks with production studios looking for a library of family-friendly content as well as original programming.

The service in the works would reportedly rely heavily on unscripted content, including game shows. A spokesman for the company behind NBC’s The wallhas already received an order for 10 episodes, Deadline says.

The new network could be launched as early as this year.

Chick-Fil-A has previously dabbled in programming and has produced a series of animated films entitled Stories from Evergreen Hillswhich was about how acts of kindness can bring people together.

While the streamer plans to focus on family-friendly programming, launching a streaming service could be a balancing act for Chick-Fil-A. While its chicken sandwiches are phenomenally popular, the company itself has attracted more than its fair share of controversy over the years due to its political views.

In 2012, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy called the United States “a nation that invites God’s judgment on us when we shake our fists and say we know better than you what constitutes marriage.” This sparked a backlash that has not subsided to this day.

In 2019, the San Antonio County Council approved a new concession agreement for the city’s airport that included more local businesses and specifically excluded the chicken sandwich chain over Chick-Fil-A’s monetary donations to groups accused of discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
