Chicago’s goal target on Sunday

For my Sunday soccer bet of the day, I’m going to the MLS and have highlighted one game in particular that I’m particularly excited about because of the goals.

⚽️ Chicago Fire vs. DC United

🇩🇪MLS

⏰ Sunday, September 8, 01:30

Two teams separated by just three points in the Eastern Conference standings meet at Soldier Field in the early hours of Sunday morning when 14th-ranked Chicago Fire host 11th-ranked DC United. The game looks promising to me because of the goals.

Frank Klopas’ hosts have scored 33 goals in their first 27 games of this MLS season, 16 (48%) of them on home soil.

The Fire have scored in 19 of 27 (70%) of their MLS games – including 12 of the previous 14 – and will look to trouble DC’s defense, which has only kept two clean sheets in the league this season. Only CF Montréal (58) and the San Jose Earthquakes (63%) have conceded more than the 55 goals they have conceded.

Troy Lesesne’s guests have scored 41 goals in their first 27 games of this MLS season, 18 (44%) of them away.

The Black and Red Eagles have scored in 21 of 27 (78%) of their league games – they have scored multiple times in six of their last seven – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring streak against a Chicago defense that has only kept four clean sheets in MLS this season, just two of those at Soldier Field.

Bet of the day

DC United have averaged a remarkable 3.56 goals in their first 27 MLS games this season, with 18 (67%) of them being “Both Teams Have Scored & Over 2.5 Goals,” including nine of their last 12—and since the same has been the case in eight of the Fire’s previous 11 MLS games, I’m happy to bet on at least three goals being scored and both teams contributing, in a game where both teams will be aiming for all three points.

  • Both teams score one goal and over 2.5 goals
  • Pays 4/5 (Bet365/Skybet)
