It has always used the modified Stableford scoring system, which is played by stroke play. … Adam Scott (2000) and Jason Day (2006) are the only players in the BMW Championship field to have played the International at Castle Pines. … This will be the first full FedEx Cup event at high altitude since Mexico City hosted a World Golf Championship in Chapultepec in 2020.

Lorena Ochoa won in 2007 and Stacy Lewis in 2013. … Lilia Vu became only the second American in the last 10 years to win the Women’s British Open. The other was Mo Martin in 2014 at Royal Birkdale. … This is the final event before the Solheim Cup teams for the U.S. and Europe are determined. Lauren Coughlin clinched a spot for the Americans last week by winning the Women’s Scottish Open. … Coughlin, Hannah Green and Nelly Korda are the LPGA’s only multiple winners this year. Korda has won six times, including five in a row. … Three-time Women’s British Open winner Karrie Webb is playing. She is the only woman to win five different LPGA majors. She won at Turnberry in 2002, when the tournament was first recognized as a major.

Björn was also Denmark’s captain at the Olympics. … Nick Watney is playing on a sponsor exemption. … An amateur spot went to Jacob Skov Olesen, the British amateur champion … Thorbjörn Olesen and Nicolai Hojgaard combined to score 25 under par at Le Golf National at the Olympics. Only the Americans combined to score better at the Paris Games. … The tournament has been part of the European Tour calendar since 2014. … Bernd Wiesberger is the only two-time winner of the tournament. He is in the field because he is in the top 40 of the European Tour’s career money list.
