Out of Birdhouse And The downfall Director Susanne Bier and screenwriter Jenna Lamia present the six-part television adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s The perfect couplewhich was released on Netflix on September 5th.
Hilderbrand’s book formed the basis for the Nantucket-set crime thriller that promises to be the wedding of the summer between Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) and Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) until a guest mysteriously dies. Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Tag (Liev Schreiber) must clean up the mess, along with more of their chaotic family and friends.

Greer Garrison-Winbury (Nicole Kidman)
Greer is the mother of the groom, Benji, and has taken over the wedding planning down to the smallest detail. Greer is a famous author whose crime novels about Dolly Hardaway make up a large part of the Winburys’ fortune. After the wedding, one of her books will even be published: Death in Dubai.
Nicole Kidman previously worked with director Susanne Bier on the miniseries The Undoing, in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant. Kidman is also known for her role as Satine in Moulin-Rouge!Ada Monroe in On the way to Cold Mountain (2003), Celeste Wright in Big little liesGretchen Carlson in bomb (2019), Lucille Ball in The Ricardos are (2021), Kaitlyn Meade in Taylor Sheridans lioness and Brooke Harwood in A family affair (2024). Thomas ‘Day’ Winbury (Liev Schreiber)
Tag Winbury is the patriarch to Greer’s matriarch and, for fans of Greer’s books, the Dash to her Dolly. In the book, his real name is Thomas, like her eldest son. Tag lets Greer dictate many things in their relationship and marriage and they themselves are marketed as the perfect couple.
Schreiber is known for his role as Victor Creed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Marty Baron in Headlights (2015). He also played Raymond Shaw in Candidate of Fear (2004) and JJ Kellogg in Asteroid CityHe appeared in A small light as Otto Frank.

Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson)
Amelia Sacks is the future bride of the limited series. In Hilderbrand’s book, she is called Celeste Otis and will marry into the wealthy Winbury family in a lavish ceremony and extensive program of events on the island of Nantucket.
Eve Hewson, the daughter of U2 singer Bono (Paul Hewson), is also known for her role as Flora in John Carney’s Flora and son (2023) and Tess in Enough said (2013). She appeared as Marian in Robin Hood (2018) and Carol Donovan in Bridge of Spies (2015). She also played Becka Garvey in Evil Sisters on Apple TV+ and the second season of the series will be released in November 2024.

Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) (right)
Benji is the groom and Amelia’s future husband. He is the middle of Greer’s three sons, along with his older brother Thomas and younger brother Will. Benji is sweet, but also a bit mysterious. He loves to paint.
Billy Howle performed in Dunkirk (2017), Outlaw King (2018) and Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

Merritt Monaco (Meghann Fahy)
Merritt Monaco is Amelia’s best friend and maid of honor. She is also an influencer. Merritt is excited to support Amelia in her upcoming wedding.
Meghann Fahy played Daphne Sullivan in season 2 of The White LotusSutton Brady in The brave guyClara Thompson in Miss Sloane and the young Caroline in The lost Valentine’s Day (2011).

Abby Winbury (Dakota Fanning)
Abby Winbury advises Amelia to stay away from the Winbury family, but she knows about almost everyone. Abby is Thomas’ wife and soon to be the mother of their first child. She likes to gossip.
Dakota Fanning is known for her roles as Lucy in I Am Sam (2001), Lupita Ramos in Man on Fire, Rachel Ferrier in War of the Worlds (2005), and Lily Owens in The Beekeeper (2008). She played Cale Crane in Dreamer alongside Kurt Russell and Fern Arable in Wilbur and Charlotte (2006). She voiced the title character Coraline Jones in Henry Selick’s Coraline (2009). She appeared as Jane in the Twilight films and also as Penelope Stern in Ocean’s Eight (2018). More recently, she played Susan Elizabeth Ford in The First Lady, Emma Collins in Equalizer 3 (2023), Marge Sherwood in Ripley (2024), and Mina in The Watchers (2024).

Thomas Winbury Jr. (Jack Reynor)
Thomas Winbury is the eldest son of Greer and Tag. He is married to Abby (Dakota Fanning), who is pregnant with her first child.
Jack Reynor played Burton Fisher in The PeripheryChristian in Midsummer (2019), Shane Dyson in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) and Brendan in Sing Street (2016). He also starred alongside Eve Hewson in Flora and son (2023).

Will Winbury (Sam Nivola)
Will is the youngest Winbury brother and does not appear in Hilderbrand. He will soon be 18, but is a little more sheltered than his two older brothers.
Sam Nivola played Alexander Bernstein in maestroLee Pol in Eileen and Henry in White noise (2022). He will also appear in season 3 of The White Lotus.

Shooter Dival (Isaan Khatter)
Shooter Dival is Benji’s best friend from childhood and will also be Benji’s best man at the wedding. To the Winburys, he is like a member of the family.
Isaan Chatter last appeared in Pippa (2023) as Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. He also played Raghav Manavalan in Don’t look up (2021) and Amir in Beyond the clouds (2017).

Chloe Carter (Mia Isaac)
Chloe is the teenage daughter of police chief Dan Carter. When she’s not running around like a typical teenager, she works as a caterer.

Detective Nikki Henry, who played Greek Nick in Elin Hilderbrand’s book, is a no-nonsense mother who wants to solve the case as quickly as possible. Her instinct drives the investigation forward since she doesn’t have to deal with the bureaucracy of the Winburys funneling funds to the Nantucket Police Department.
Donna Lynne Champlin played Paula Proctor in Crazy ex-girlfrienda Broadway lady in Birdman or (The Unexpected Power of Excellence) and Mrs. Veda in Yes, God, yes (2019).

Karen Sacks (Dendrie Taylor)
Karen is Amelia’s mother and she has cancer. Benji and Amelia moved their wedding up to July 4th to accommodate her schedule since the cancer is incurable.

Isabel Nallet is a French friend of the Greer and Tag family. Her book is based on Featherleigh Dale.

Dan Carter is tasked with solving the murder that overshadowed the wedding of Benji Winbury and Amelia Sacks. Together with Detective Nikki Henry, he tries to find out what happened on the fateful night before the wedding of the year.
