Carroll women’s soccer team receives votes in NAIA preseason poll

Women’s football | 14.08.24 | 15:19

Kansas City, Missouri – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has released its 2024 preseason coaches poll ahead of the official start of the season. The Carroll College women’s soccer team appears in the “Votes Received” section of the poll.

A new season has begun and the Fighting Saints are looking to build on their successful 2023 season and compete in the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Championship for the first time since 2016.

Carroll (11-2-4, 8-1-3) returns nearly the entire 2023 roster that finished second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season and lost only one player to graduation.

Three CCC teams are represented in the first poll. Last year’s CCC champion College of Idaho is ranked 20th, while Eastern Oregon is in the vote-getter category alongside Carroll.

The Saints have already played two practice games and will begin their season with a game against the University of Lethbridge on Wednesday, August 21st at 5:00 p.m. at the newly renovated Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium.

The full results of the NAIA preseason coaches poll are as follows:

Survey methodology:

  • The survey is for promotional purposes only and has no significance or influence on the selection process for participation in the national championship.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) voted on the poll.
  • The top 25 are determined by a points system based on each voter’s vote for the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each vote for first place, 29 points for second place, 28 points for third place, and so on down the list.
  • Each team’s highest and lowest ranking (no ranking is considered a low ranking) will be removed.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the vote are not considered “vote recipients.”
  • For the first preseason poll, there is no column with reference to the last time because the polls are new and the rating system is different.
