Carolina Panthers vs. Las Vegas Raiders odds, expert picks, how to watch: What will the Panthers look like with Bryce Young on the bench?
The Las Vegas Raiders are favorites in an NFL home game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon.
Normally, it’s good news when the opponent has a quarterback dispute, but the Raiders may have been unlucky when Panthers coach Dave Canales announced that Bryce Young would be benched for Week 3. The Carolina team can hardly play worse with a new player at quarterback.
How bad were the Panthers? They rank last in points (6.5 PPG) and total yards on offense (176 YPG). The Carolina offense under Young was a disaster: The Panthers converted just 2 of 22 on third-down conversions.
This Sunday, Andy Dalton, the old “Red Rifle,” will be playing quarterback for the Panthers. Dalton has 83 wins in this league, but he must now, at 36, prove that he is more than just a clipboard carrier. Dalton used to be a slinger, but Canales simply needs game management.
The Raiders are expected to dominate this game. However, it remains to be seen whether Gardner Minshew can continue his unexpected pass completion rate. His 77.5% is the best in the NFL. Good news for the Raiders: The Panthers have given up 10 yards per pass.
With a miserable point differential of 73-13, the Panthers have been tough to deal with so far this season. Things should be no different on the road in Las Vegas in Week 3.
