Carnival Splendor resumes operations after dry docking – Cruise industry news

The Carnival Splendor will return to service today after undergoing routine maintenance at a shipyard in Singapore.

The Carnival Cruise Line ship will depart from the Marina Bay Cruise Terminal and offer a repositioning cruise back to its homeport of Sydney, Australia.

The 16-day trip includes visits to six destinations in Indonesia and Australia, including Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Darwin, Airlie Beach and Moreton Island.

After returning to Sydney on September 6, 2024, Carnival Splendor is scheduled to resume her regular South Pacific schedule.

Built in 2008, the ship departs from this port and offers a range of three- to eleven-day itineraries to various destinations in the region, including New Caledonia, Vanuatu, New Zealand, Tasmania and the Great Barrier Reef.

In addition to regular maintenance, Carnival Splendor also received new dining options, updated amenities and refreshed spaces during her 19-day shipyard stay.

During its time in dry dock, the 113,300-ton ship also received Carnival Cruise Line’s new livery, which includes a navy blue hull with red and white accents.

As a nod to her activities in Australia, a Southern Cross is depicted on the hull of the Splendor near the stern.

Similar to the “Sailing Stars” livery introduced by P&O Australia in 2017, the symbol represents a five-star constellation visible in the Southern Hemisphere.

The brand is scheduled to be acquired by the company in 2025 and will play an important role in Carnival’s future in the region.

In March, Carnival Splendor will be joined in Australia by two former P&O ships, Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure.

The 2,600-guest sister ships, which currently sail from Brisbane and Sydney, will continue to operate scheduled services in the region year-round after joining the US brand’s fleet.

To complete Carnival’s offering in the South Pacific, the Carnival Luminosa also operates seasonally from Brisbane.
