Carlo Ancelotti was frustrated because the Real Madrid player couldn’t start against Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid are determined to secure a win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday as the two teams prepare for the first Madrid derby of the season. However, they will be without Kylian Mbappe, which is expected to mean Carlo Ancelotti will change his tactics and return to last season’s 4-4-2 system.

Luka Modric is expected to be Mbappe’s successor, rather than Eduardo Camavinga, who was deemed fit earlier in the week and is now eligible to make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a knee injury. However, this does not happen voluntarily, but rather out of necessity.

According to Relevo, Real Madrid believe Camavinga will not be able to start at the Metropolitano as he is not at 100% following his six-week injury layoff. Ancelotti wanted the dynamic French pivot in his starting XI but that won’t be the case.

Modric will bring experience and control to Real Madrid’s midfield, although it is clear why Ancelotti would prefer to have Camavinga available from the start. When the game begins at the Metropolitano, the Croatian veteran and also Aurelien Tchouameni will be the focus.
