Car crashes into tree, passenger freed from vehicle in Shelton: Fire department

SHELTON, CT — A passenger was extricated from a car after the vehicle struck a tree in Shelton Saturday night, according to fire officials.

In a press release, officials said emergency crews were called to the area of ​​Federal Road and Sorell Drive around 8 p.m. after a traffic accident with injuries was reported.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, they found the car had struck a tree and confirmed one of the occupants was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, officials said.

Rescue crews stabilized the car while other rescue workers used hydraulic tools and battery-powered recovery tools to free the trapped passenger, officials said.

Rescue crews removed the passenger doors and roof of the car to gain access to the occupant. The passenger was extricated from the car after about 20 minutes and EHAC cared for the patient, who was transported to a local trauma hospital for medical treatment, officials said.
