Nicole Kidman is arguably one of the most successful actresses working in Hollywood today. Her career has spanned more than four decades, including some of the biggest films of all time such as Aquamansuccessful TV shows like Big little liesand even some memorable commercials for AMC Theaters. She’s done it all. Well, almost. It turns out the Oscar winner still wants to do one thing: classic hardcore horror.
Kidman was certainly at her a whole series of genre films over the years, including The OthersStoker, The Invasion, Magic Sisters, The Killing of a Sacred Deer And The Northman. However, she still has an urge that needs to be satisfied in the horror realm, as the Oscar winner wants to do something “hardcore.” Kidman was recently portrayed by The Official and expressed her desire to explore the horror genre even further. Here’s what she had to say about it:
“I haven’t made a classic horror film yet. Hardcore horror. I’m showing it because I watch hardcore horror. I’m a fan of Ti West!”
Readers will certainly notice that Kidman has some background in the horror genre. The Others is undoubtedly horror of the supernatural variety, while some of her other works mentioned above are at least horror-like. Still, it’s not hard to see what Kidman means. She clearly has a desire to star in something that is more horror. Stuff with blood and guts. She mentions Ti West, and it is not at all difficult to imagine her in the world of MaXXXinefor example. Simply put, it should be a no-brainer for someone to put Kidman in a horror film anywhere that matches her talent.
“I really wanted to work with him in a horror film,” Kidman said about James Wan’s speech. Ultimately, that was Aquamanwhich was a huge billion dollar hit, so you can’t say it didn’t work. However, Wan is a master of horror and has directed, among others, Saw, Insidious And The Conjuring. It’s easy to understand why Kidman thought this was possible. Who knows? Maybe Wan will now return to the realm of horror, including his upcoming The horror of the Amazon New editionhe can call her.
Kidman was nominated for five Oscars and won the award for Best Actress for her work in The hoursYour performance in The Others helped make this something other than a ghost story trying to capitalize on the success of The sixth sense. She has a wide range and, more importantly, a real desire to make horror films. Kidman looks down on the genre and sees it as something inferior. Hollywood needs to make that happen. She brought it to market, now someone needs to get smarter and listen.
