Training a police dog takes time and effort, and if you’re also a cameraman, it can lead to some hilarious moments. The dog accompanies its handler during training to get the animal used to different situations. This togetherness resulted in this hilarious clip featuring a dog in training and his photographer trainer.
The photographer’s vest helps distribute the weight of the camera so it is easier to carry. The tennis balls (also known as dog toys) are attached to the back of the vest to keep the photographer from bumping into walls or other obstacles. The idea is that the balls will bump into something before the cameraman collides with an obstacle. They can also act as stabilization points if the photographer needs to lean against a wall.
On the photographer’s TikTok channel, you can watch many of the dog training videos he shoots. The team appears to be based in Ukraine. He captures the dedicated dogs in their element and shows just how much work it takes to train a police dog. You can follow some of the dogs from puppyhood to adulthood. There are also other videos that prove the aforementioned “ball problem” is not an isolated incident.
The dog is relentless and it might be time to consider an alternative method to prevent the photographer from bumping into walls. When these happy guys aren’t trying to steal tennis balls from their buddy’s vest, they’re pretty cool dogs.
