Calix introduces outdoor Wi-Fi innovations for broadband service providers
Calix has introduced additional outdoor Wi-Fi capabilities for its broadband platform and SmartLife managed services, enabling customers to tap into a $7 billion outdoor Wi-Fi market. The new long-range Calix GigaPro p6dx extends outdoor coverage up to one mile, while a 6GHz upgrade for the Calix GigaPro p6he significantly increases performance and triples capacity to support livestreaming, video uploads to social media and other bandwidth-intensive activities at large outdoor events.
Both systems exist on the Calix Broadband Platform and enable broadband service providers to easily deliver differentiated managed services to large outdoor environments such as campgrounds, town centers, fairgrounds, farms, marinas and RV parks. To accelerate time to market and revenue, Calix announced the upcoming Calix GigaPro GPR4001XH optical network terminal (ONT) with integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) to further streamline outdoor installations.
Cloud updates to the Calix platform enable BSPs to instantly access and use new Wi-Fi systems. They can also count on improved subscriber insights through new SmartTown reporting capabilities.
