BYU players in the NFL like Fred Warner and Kyle Van Noy continue to make their mark

Here’s the former BYU Cougars’ Week 3 recap in the NFL. Power rankings reflect each player’s performance throughout the entire 2024 season only, without taking previous seasons into account.

Fred Warner

#1 – Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers

Stats: 4 tackles, 1 pass defended

The 49ers lost a bad game against the struggling Los Angeles Rams and Warner had a quiet game by his elite standards. This was the first game this year where Fred didn’t appear to have a momentum-changing play like a forced fumble or a sack.

#2 – Kyle Van Noy, LB, Baltimore Ravens

Stats: 2 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass defensed

KVN has now recorded two sacks in each of their last two games. After a career-high 9.5 sacks last year, Van Noy has only gotten better with age and has four sacks and five tackles for loss in three games this year.

#3 – Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals

Stats: No punts

Even though the rookie didn’t make a single punt on Monday night, he averaged 59.3 yards per punt runs the NFL by more than six yards per attempt.

Tyler Allgeier

#4 – Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Stats: 7 carries, 32 yards

The frustration continues as Allgeier receives a criminally low number of ball contacts. Starting running back Bijan Robinson had 16 carries for 31 yards, less than two yards per carry in the game. Give Tyler the stinking ball!

#5 – Jamaal Williams, RB, New Orleans Saints

Stats: 1 rush, -1 yards; 1 reception, 0 yards; 10 offensive snaps, 7 special teams snaps

While Jamaal ran the ball well in garbage time in the Saints’ first two games, there was no garbage time in New Orleans’ Week 3 loss. As a result, Williams had two touches for a loss of one yard, while Alvin Kamara had 26 rushing attempts.

#6 – Khyiris Tonga, DL, Arizona Cardinals

Stats: 4 tackles; 14 defensive snaps

What a great game for Khyiris Tonga! Backup defensive tackles rarely reach four tackles in limited snaps (14), but that’s exactly what Tonga did against the Detroit Lions. The fourth-year pro continues to have a nice NFL career.

#7 – Michael Davis, CB, Washington Commanders

Statistics: No statistics

Although the Commanders’ cornerbacks were repeatedly torched by the Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receivers (Joe Burrow threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns), Davis continued to observe Washington’s games largely from the sidelines.

#8 – Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers

Stats: No stats, 19 special teams snaps

Zayne continues to be a mainstay on special teams for the Packers.

Kingsley Suamataia

#9 – Kingsley Suamataia, OT, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: 2 offensive snaps, 3 special teams snaps

After struggling in his first two starts, Kingsley sits on the bench and only played a few snaps in a jumbo package. Damned. BYU fans had high hopes for Kingsley’s rookie season.

#10 – Brady Christensen, OL, Carolina Panthers

Stats: 7 offensive snaps, 6 special teams snaps

The Panthers benched Bryce Young, started Andy Dalton and beat the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady played an offensive series during garbage time late in the game, along with a handful of special teams snaps.

#11 – Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers

Stats: 3 rushes, 3 yards; 4 offensive snaps, 3 special teams snaps

Brooks was called up from the practice squad to the active roster this week and carried the ball three times for three yards. It’s great to see him back on an active roster after rushing for 106 yards as a rookie with the Miami Dolphins last year.
