Bundesliga: 20 goals in seven days – FC Bayern Munich celebrates its next goal fest

FC Bayern beat Werder Bremen and celebrated another goal-scoring gala after their landslide victory in the Champions League. Freiburg shined in Heidenheim and Kiel got its first Bundesliga point. The fourth matchday of the Bundesliga at a glance.

FC Bayern Munich got in the mood for the Oktoberfest visit with another goal-scoring gala in their favorite away stadium. The league leaders won 5-0 at Werder Bremen and celebrated their 15th win on the Weser in the series.

After the fourth win in the fourth Bundesliga game of the season, coach Vincent Kompany’s team can now go to the Oktoberfest in the best of spirits on Sunday. In the sold-out Weserstadion, the strong Michael Olise (23rd minute, 60th), national player Jamal Musiala (32nd), Harry Kane (57th) and Serge Gnabry (65th) scored the goals for the Munich team, who were superior in every respect.

The record champions had to do without Manuel Neuer at short notice. The former national goalkeeper was initially on the starting line-up, but had to drop out after warming up. Neuer sustained a minor thigh injury in Tuesday evening’s 9:2 Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb and had stayed in the dressing room during half-time.

In Bremen, Bayern could have played with an injured Neuer or even without a goalkeeper. Because Bremen had no chance at all. In the first half hour, Bayern had 75 percent possession and controlled the game as they pleased.

It was only after the break that Werder briefly became a little more courageous. But this did not put the confident Bayern under pressure. Quite the opposite. Kane, on a pass from the outstanding Olise, the 22-year-old Frenchman himself and substitute Gnabry increased the score. With 20 goals in one week, Bayern made it clear that they are ready for the big duel with Bayer Leverkusen.

Union Berlin – TSG Hoffenheim 2:1

With a double goal boost, Union Berlin continued its dazzling start to the season in the Bundesliga and massively exacerbated the problems of TSG Hoffenheim.

The Iron Ones laid the foundation for their 2-1 (2-0) victory at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei with the first goals from new signings Tom Rothe (3rd minute) and Wooyeong Jeong (5th minute). Former Union player Marius Bülter (67th minute) was only able to shorten the lead for the Kraichgau team.

VfL Bochum – Holstein Kiel 2:2

Newly promoted Holstein Kiel picked up its first Bundesliga point with a 2-2 (1-2) draw at VfL Bochum, who had also previously not scored a point.

Substitute Shuto Machino (89th minute) scored the visitors’ first Bundesliga point just before the end. Benedikt Pichler (15th) had previously put Kiel in the lead. Matus Bero (22nd minute) and Lukas Daschner (35th) scored for Bochum.

1. FC Heidenheim – SC Freiburg 0:3

Ritsu Doan and Vincenzo Grifo led SC Freiburg to victory against 1. FC Heidenheim. The Breisgau team won 3-0 (0-0) thanks to three goals within eleven minutes after the break and remained in the top group after the away win. In the history of the Freiburg club, FCH was the last of 41 first division teams against whom they had not yet won.

SC coach Julian Schuster’s team had the better of the game throughout the game. However, the visitors needed some luck to score the first goal from Doan in the 54th minute. Grifo sealed the deal with a double strike a little later (59th/65th).
