Building relationships is at the heart of ICYA’s work

Once summer comes, Tirzah focuses exclusively on Lively youth in the city centre‘s Bridge Drop-In is designed to make the most of your time with your youth.

It is a special time for many reasons. “I don’t want the young people I am in contact with to think that I have forgotten them,” says Tirzah.

“Summer can be a rough time for youth, so if I can plan some fun get-togethers and give them space to experience love and peace, then I want to do that!” Sometimes that’s day camps for kids, camping trips for teens, or fun field trips.

But there’s also one part of her job that she enjoys most: one-on-one conversations. “Every deep and meaningful relationship I have with youth has come from one-on-one conversations. It’s a chance for me to get to know a youth, build trust, have fun, and give them space for real conversations. One-on-one conversations can also be great opportunities to talk about faith and how God can be part of their lives, both in the good and the bad.”

Tirzah is there for her youth at every stage of life. But to make that possible, she needs you first. One-on-one meetings, relationship building, sharing Jesus… that can only happen if we have our strong community behind us first. We need generous, caring people to fund this important work. Could you facilitate one-on-one meetings today?

If you can donate, you can help make more of these experiences possible: “The first summer I was here, I met a young girl from the Bridge Drop-In and had a conversation with her,” Tirzah recalls.

“As we continued to do that, I got to know her and saw a life of pain and trauma and a desperate need for someone to listen to her, be there for her and love her. I also saw strength, a kind character and a wonderful sense of humor. Those first one-on-one conversations have turned into a year and a half relationship. She moved away about eight months ago, but we were able to keep in close contact. That’s really special to me.”

If you can Give todayenable even more young people to find someone who listens to them and loves them.

They can bring hope to the innermost being!
