The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense will be missing some key players for their Week 2 game at Detroit on Sunday, but at least the players whose participation was question marks before the weekend will be able to play.
Defensive lineman Logan Hall (foot), cornerback Zyon McCollum (concussion) and nickelback Tykee Smith (illness) were listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week, but all three were cleared to play against the Lions. McCollum was released from the NFL’s concussion protocol on Saturday.
Hall missed the Buccaneers’ season-opening win over Washington due to the injury he suffered on the practice field, but he practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, as did McCollum. Smith did not practice on those two days due to his illness.
The Bucs’ defense will be without All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (foot) and defensive lineman Calijah Kancey (calf), a 2023 first-round pick. Reserve cornerback Josh Hayes is also unavailable due to an ankle injury and cornerback Bryce Hall was placed on the injured list earlier this week. On offense, Tampa Bay will be without right tackle Luke Goedeke. Justin Skule will step in and make his first start with the team.
The Buccaneers and Lions submitted their inactive player lists at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, 90 minutes before the scheduled kickoff of their game at Ford Field in Detroit. After defensive linemen CJ Brewer and Mike Greene were called up from the practice squad on Saturday, the Buccaneers had 55 available players and therefore had to name seven inactive players to get to the game day limit of 48. The Lions also called up two players, wideouts Tom Kennedy and Tim Patrick, and therefore also had to name seven inactive players.
