The Tampa Bay Bucs, who won 1-0, will travel to Detroit to play the Lions on Sunday, September 15. Headlining the game was running back Rachaad White in their Week 1 win over the Washington Commanders. After an impressive performance, White & Co. come into Ford Field as underdogs, trailing by 7.5 points, which would be a bad thing for many running backs.

But as every good late ’90s romance movie says, Rachaad White is “not like most running backs.” That kind of point spread actually helps us with this Bucs-Lions player bet we made on White for Week 2.

Buccaneers-Lions player selection for Rachaad White

Only one running back had more receptions (by one) and yards (also by one) than White in Week 1 – and that was De’Von Achane. Not bad company if you’re coming up short in the passing game.

White finished Week 1 with six catches for 75 yards and a 32-yard reception, so we’ve already seen that he’s capable of making a big play when he gets the ball in open space.

This week on FanDuel he has a receiving prop of over/under 23.5 yards with odds of -114.

The point differential is 7.5, the Bucs are away in Detroit, and the Buccaneers somehow allowed the Commanders to score 20 points last week… I can see the Lions scoring. Especially at home.

Therefore, it seems likely that the game script indicates that they will have to pass the ball, which means plenty of opportunities for White to make his catches from the backfield.

Look for the Bucs to trail in the third and fourth quarters and watch the pass retention yards pile up on dump-offs as Tampa tries to move the ball down the field late in the game while Detroit runs a sort of prevent strategy.
