It turns out that being the child of a supermodel actress has some nice perks – like being able to raid your famous mother’s closet of vintage ’90s dresses for your high school graduation. In an interview with People On Wednesday, Brooke Shields confessed that the white dress her daughter wore to her graduation ceremony earlier this year was the same one the actress wore to her wedding to tennis star Andre Agassi in 1997. Much like the rest of the Class of 2024 heading off to college this year, 18-year-old Grier Henchy managed to turn heads in her mother’s vintage wedding dress, making just a few tweaks to make the ensemble look more modern.
“We had to re-strengthen it a little bit to make it tight and smooth,” Henchy, who is attending Wake Forest University this year with her older sister Rowan, said of the dress. “We took out anything pompous because I didn’t want it to be baggy.”

“It’s such an honor when they want to wear your stuff. They don’t usually think I’m cool,” Shields added. “Honestly, they can wear anything just to have it get a second life… you keep the stuff and wonder why. It’s like a big Sotheby’s auction? I highly doubt it. Unless they’re iconic items. So when they get a second life, it feels good.”
Shields, of course, divorced Agassi in 1999 and later married Chris Henchy, the father of her two daughters. But Agassi, she says, is “a good guy,” so she was glad Grier gave the garment another chance. It doesn’t hurt that she chose an environmentally conscious style, either. See? The kids are doing really well.
