Broncos sign ILBs Zach Cunningham and Kwon Alexander to practice squad

WEST SULPHER SPRINGS, West Virginia — The Broncos have added two experienced defenders to their practice squad.

Denver has signed inside linebackers Zach Cunningham and Kwon Alexander to the practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

Cunningham, a 2017 second-round pick, has started 86 games in his career and recorded 705 tackles, 6.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, 23 passes defensed and one interception.

The Vanderbilt product appeared in 13 games and started 10 games for Philadelphia in 2023. Cunningham recorded 85 tackles, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit and four passes defended during that time.

Alexander is a 10th-year linebacker who most recently played nine games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. Originally drafted by the Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Alexander spent the first four years of his career in Tampa and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017. He also spent time with the 49ers, Saints – where he played for current Broncos head coach Sean Payton in 2020 – and the Jets.

In 2023, Alexander appeared in nine games – two of them as a starter – and recorded 41 tackles, five tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception.

On Wednesday, the Broncos announced that they would place inside linebacker Alex Singleton on the injured list and promote running back Tyler Badie to the active roster.
