Broncos ILB Alex Singleton is out for the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate ligament

Alex Singleton’s season is over after three weeks.

Head coach Sean Payton announced on Wednesday that the inside linebacker will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.

Singleton injured his knee in the first quarter when safety Brandon Jones intercepted a ball, but managed to play the rest of the game. Soreness was reported after the game, but the team was surprised when examinations revealed a tear.

“He played two-thirds of the game (with the injury), and that was pretty remarkable,” Payton said. “He’ll probably have surgery in two weeks.”

Since arriving in Denver, Singleton has been a tackling machine, making 371 total tackles in 37 games (31 starts). Through three games of the 2024 season, Singleton led the team with 31 tackles and an interception in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

The news about Singleton comes after sources told the Denver Post that the Broncos have signed veteran Kwon Alexander – who will join a rotation of inside linebackers that includes starters Cody Barton, Justin Strnad and Kristian Welch. Undrafted rookie Levelle Bailey is on the team’s practice squad.
