Bronco Sport gets a powerful Sasquatch off-road package for 2025

Ford is giving its baby Bronco – the Bronco Sport – a new Sasquatch package that makes the small off-road vehicle even more powerful where the asphalt ends. The new package will be available as an optional extra for the Outer Banks and Badlands versions in 2025.

If the package looks familiar, you’re not crazy. The larger Bronco famously offered a Sasquatch package that gave big Bronco owners locking front and rear differentials, huge 35-inch tires, 17-inch beadlock wheels, and higher-clearance fender flares to boost the SUV’s already impressive off-road capabilities. But on the larger Bronco, this package could be fitted to any trim level, whereas here on the Bronco Sport, it’s exclusive to the two most expensive trim levels.

So what does a Sasquatch package get you on the Bronco Sport? Well, that depends on what trim you start with. On the Outer Banks version, you get a dual-clutch rear-wheel-drive unit that can close both clutches to simulate a locked rear differential. It’s the first time Ford has offered this hardware on a Bronco Sport equipped with the smaller 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. The Badlands, on the other hand, has offered this equipment since its introduction and keeps it for the Sasquatch package.

As for the top-trim Badlands, models equipped with the Sasquatch package will get new Bilstein rear shocks that feature a reservoir. The new shocks will “provide a wider range of compression and rebound damping capabilities to help absorb extreme events at higher speeds,” Ford says.

Thanks to new front and rear springs, the Sasquatch-equipped Bronco Sport Badlands offers 8.3 inches and 8.7 inches of front and rear suspension travel, respectively. Both Sasquatch models receive new underbody protection, including a front skid plate, steel skid plates, and modular, accessory-ready front and rear bumpers with steel skid plates. In addition to the skid plates, the front and rear bumpers each feature two tow points – hooks on the front and D-rings on the rear.

In typical Sasquatch fashion, you also get bigger tires. Both versions will be equipped with 29-inch Goodyear Territory All Terrain tires, size 235/65/R17. These rollers were developed specifically for the Bronco Sport Sasquatch, says Ford.

In addition to the new shoes, there’s a new setting for the GOAT mode controller: Rally. The new feature holds gears longer, sharpens throttle response and improves steering feedback, Ford says. (Only Sasquatch-equipped Bronco Sports will get Rally mode, but every 2025 Bronco Sport will now come standard with a new off-road GOAT mode.)

In addition to the new driving mode, a few other technical tricks are designed to make off-road driving easier for these little speedsters. Trail One-Pedal Drive is new and allows the driver to avoid obstacles using only the accelerator pedal, while braking control is left to the car’s computers. A 360-degree trail camera displays your surroundings on the center screen and overlays width-accurate tire overlays so you can see exactly where your wheels are going.

“Bronco Sport customers love the outdoors and drive off-road 3.5 times as often as owners of competing vehicles and camp twice as often,” said Matt Simpson, general manager of Ford’s Enthusiast Vehicles. (The sound you hear is the roar of Subaru owners.) Adding a Sasquatch package to the Bronco Sport — one that seems to offer serious benefits off-trail — should enable more of the fun these owners are said to be so earnestly pursuing.

Ford says the 2025 Bronco Sport will arrive in dealerships in November and that Sasquatch-equipped versions will be available in the first quarter of next year. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
