Brian Singletary Jr., 75, of Tar Heel, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at UNC Health Southeastern Hospital in Lumberton. He was born December 25, 1948, in Robeson County to the late Nathan Brian Singletary and Mary Alice Wilson Singletary.
Brian is survived by his wife, Dorothea S. Singletary; his sons, Steven Singletary (Rachel Sutton) of Tar Heel and Timothy Singletary (Samantha) of Wilkes County; and his daughter, Sandra Singletary (Norbert Guerz) of Germany. His grandchildren are Lily Guerz, Emma Guerz, Nathan Singletary, Zoey Sutton, Sawyer Singletary and Wyatt Singletary.
Brian served in the U.S. Army at a young age and after his discharge he began to take care of his family. He loved his family and his grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed cooking, eating, hanging out with his buddies at his store, listening to music and watching John Wayne movies on TV. Brian’s openness and welcoming nature will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 11 a.m. at the Tar Heel Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Tommy Puryear officiating.
