Bresha Webb and Nick Jones Jr. rolled out the red carpet for their “I do!”

The Rule the world The 38-year-old actress and her husband, a television writer, tied the knot on February 4 in an “old Hollywood glamour” wedding at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California.

“It feels like an answer to prayer,” Webb tells PEOPLE of her wedding. “Since I have a successful career, I began to doubt whether my dream of marriage and family would ever come true. Now that I have a husband and a daughter, I trust in God’s timing for everything. Because our love couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Instead of “seeing each other first,” the couple decided to stand on opposite sides of a doorway and exchange vows in private before the official ceremony. Although they couldn’t see each other, they listened to the words each of them had written. Then the couple recited their traditional wedding vows at the altar in front of friends and family.

“The decision to say our vows privately and not see each other until the ceremony added an extra level of anticipation and excitement to the ceremony,” says Webb.

“We incorporated the tradition of jumping the broom, which has such deep meaning to us as a couple,” adds Webb. “We also paid tribute to my father, who was a singer, by having a choir sing his favorite song, ‘The Center of My Joy,’ in his memory. Our wedding ceremony was truly a beautiful and meaningful celebration of our Christian faith and our Black heritage.”

As for the decor, “Our goal was to honor the Hollywood glamour and romantic jazz standards of the 1940s and 1950s,” says Webb. “Mindy Weiss (who planned the wedding) made our vision a reality. The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel was the ideal venue, and the combination of music, lighting and drapes created a timeless and classic ambiance, wrapped in romance.”

Weiss adds, “The music was one of the most important details for Bresha. She spent a lot of time organizing the ceremony and reception, which I really appreciate.”
