Brawl at The Big E: Four people in hospital, damages of $1,500: Father and son arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — In an update from West Springfield following a bloody brawl last weekend, we learned that at least four people were hospitalized and two people were arrested as a result of the brawl.

We now know that the men accused of instigating the brawl are father and son James and Levi Stanley, who have been responsible for violence at The Big E in the past.

According to police reports obtained by Western Mass News, West Springfield police have been in annual contact with the Stanley family throughout the duration of the Big E.

According to police reports, these individuals cause unprovoked disturbances and fights in large crowds. During the chaos, members of the Stanley family, or “crew,” take advantage of the distraction and steal all kinds of items from people while their attention is diverted elsewhere.

During the brawl at Colorado Ski Outlet on Saturday night, numerous retail items were destroyed (damaged or stained with blood) and possibly stolen. Damage is estimated at over $1,500.

Western Mass News reached out to The Big E for comment on last weekend’s incident and they told us:

Last Saturday, an isolated incident occurred at the exhibition grounds. The individuals in question were trespassing and we commend our security staff for their quick response and discretion in handling the matter. We continue to maintain the highest safety standards for our exhibitors and guests.”

James and Levi Stanley posted a $1,000 bond this week and we’re told they’re banned from any part of the Big E property until 2025.
