Braelon Allen comments on NFL draft process after fourth-round selection

Braelon Allen has been a bright spot for the Jets over the past three weeks, giving him the opportunity to try his hand at the NFL Draft process.

In three games, he has 19 carries for 96 yards – more than five yards per carry – and two touchdowns.

It seems like every time he gets the ball he knocks the defenders down.

After Allen once again impressed in the Jets’ win over the Patriots on Thursday night, one X user seriously asked, “How the hell did @BraelonAllen slip to the fourth round?”

Allen, who shone at Wisconsin, replied: “Everyone wanted to see me run in my underwear to decide if I was a good football player.”

Allen skipped the athletic portion of the Scouting Combine, including the 40-yard dash, three-cone drills and shuttle.

He finished at the bottom of the rankings in the high jump and long jump and also dropped the balls in simulated sprints.

Although he rushed for 3,494 yards on 597 carries in three seasons with the Badgers – and scored 35 touchdowns on the ground – the balance of power meant that the 6’1″, 235-pound player was drafted 134th overall, a compensatory selection for Gang Green.

During Thursday’s Amazon broadcast, Al Michaels noted that Aaron Rodgers has raved about Allen in production meetings, saying the quarterback told him the rookie running back has shown particular enthusiasm in getting up to NFL speed.

Breece Hall, the Jets’ star running back, spoke to The Post earlier this week about how Allen has gained ground at the pro level.

“(Allen) was shy and quiet at first. And then he realized how much I play around, what a goofball I am,” Hall said. “I feel like he’s developed a little faster than I did my freshman year. … He’s really smart, understands the offense from a whole standpoint now. It’s just been great to see him get some (opportunities). He’s done great on the ops he’s gotten, so I’m definitely proud of him.”

Allen was glad that Hall showed him how things work.

“You couldn’t ask for a better situation coming in with a guy like Breece,” Allen said. “The success he had so early in his career was obviously something I wanted to build on. So you couldn’t ask for a better person to have by your side.”
