“Boulter Fire” breaks out near the border between Juab and Tooele County, evacuations ordered

Update, 7.18pm:

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Boulter Fire has now grown to 3,000 acres, according to Utah Fire Info.

As the fire approaches the area, Five Mile Pass has also been evacuated.

“Avoid SR-73 on the Utah County/Tooele County border,” reads a post from Utah Fire Info. “Five Mile Pass is being evacuated due to the #BoulterFire approaching that area. SR-36 in Tooele County is already closed.”

Update, 5.45pm:

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – According to Utah Fire Info, a wind shift from the west is now driving the Boulter Fire into the Tintic Mountain Range north of Eureka.

A Type 3 Crisis Management Response Team has reportedly been requested in Northern Utah.

Update, 4.33pm:

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Boulter Fire in Tooele County has spread rapidly and is now estimated to be over 1,000 acres in size.

Erratic, strong winds are causing the fire to grow rapidly. The winds are also making it difficult to determine the exact size of the fire, officials said.

The wildfire is estimated to be 6 to 8 miles from Five Mile Pass, a popular biking, motocross and ATV trail in Cedar Valley, Utah.

Authorities are currently using bulldozers to expand the fire line. Federal, state and local emergency responders are on the scene.
