The Boston College Eagles women’s soccer team defeated the Merrimack Warriors 5-1 on Sunday afternoon to improve their record to 2-0-0 on the year.
The Eagles took the lead in the 5th minute with a goal from forward Aislin Streicek. The Warriors tied the game in the 13th minute through midfielder Jillian Golden, but that was all Merrimack could manage.
Boston College scored four unanswered goals by Paige Peltier in the 35th minute, Ashley Roberts in the 36th minute and two each by Sydney Segalla in the 81st and 82nd minutes to seal the victory.
Defender Sarai Costello recorded two assists, while midfielder Georgina Clarke, striker Emily Sapienza and Peltier each had one assist.
In total, Boston College’s offense attempted 24 shots and 14 shots on goal. Merrimack attempted six shots and three shots on goal.
Eagles goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt and Warriors goalkeeper Lily Morgan played the entire game. Willebrandt made two saves and scored one goal, while Morgan made nine saves and scored five goals.
The win marks a perfect opening weekend for Boston College, as the team won its season opener against Jacksonville 1-0 on Thursday and is just one game away from matching its 2023 winning record.
