Nicole Gabe, who hails from Fort Myers, Florida, made her broadcast debut on Tuesday.
Boston 25 News viewers were introduced to a new morning anchor on Tuesday.
Nicole Gabe comes to the station from Fort Myers, Florida, where she was with WINK News for five years, according to a press release.
“Her focus on telling the stories viewers need to see and her commitment to her community make her a great addition to our team,” Todd Brown, vice president and general manager of Boston 25, said in a statement.
In a humorous video, Boston 25 morning anchor Gene Lavanchy and morning meteorologist Shiri Spear welcomed Gabe, a Virginia native and Virginia Tech graduate, by teaching her the ins and outs of Massachusetts, including the difference between I-95 and Route 128, urban pronunciation and the Blizzard of 1978.
In July, Boston 25 hired Scott Isaacs as news director at a time when the station was reportedly facing staff departures – including morning anchor Elizabeth Hopkins in April – cost-cutting measures and declining viewership. Isaacs came from NBC 10 WJAR in Providence and previously worked at WCVB in Boston for more than a decade.
